We
are dedicated to encouraging children to read! Good reading skills are
often learned at an early age, and reading helps children enhance their
social skills, develop hand and eye coordination, enrich their imaginations,
sharpen their language skills, and more! Of course, we could probably
fill two long pages with the benefits of reading, but since you are already
looking at our program, we know it is likely you already know how important
it is to encourage youngsters to read.
Encouraging your little
one to pick up a book is where the Bright Minds Reading Club comes in!
Bright Minds is a
reading incentive program that allows children to earn free Personalized
Children's Books as well as funds for their school, church, club or other
organization.

of what we have to offer. If you have further questions, please do not

What
will this fundraiser cost our group?
Nothing! Our fundraiser
requires NO start-up costs. In fact, we will provide you with everything
you need to run a successful campaign free of charge!
What
is our profit?
Bright Minds is a
unique fundraising opportunity, as it allows you to earn money for your
group while also putting books in the hands of the children. Also, your
group will earn a 100% return in the form of cash and
books.
Bright Minds is a
unique fundraising opportunity, as it allows you to earn money for your
group while also putting books in the hands of the children.
The return break down
is as follows:
- Your group receives
cash equally 25% of the pledged funds
- Each child receives
books equally 75% of their pledged funds
So, if you have 20
students in your organization, and each student earns just $50 in pledges,
your group will receive $250, and your children will receive $750 worth
of Personalized Children's Books.
What
is Bright Minds?
Bright Minds is similar
in design to a Walk-A-Thon. In this "Read-A-Thon" program, children
accept pledges from family and friends and agree to read for 300 minutes
over the next two weeks (which averages to 30 minutes a day, excluding
weekends).
Family and friends
may pledge a flat rate (such as $10 for the entire "Read-A-Thon",
or they may pledge based on the child's actual performance (such as $1
for every 30 minutes of reading). For little ones who are too young to
read, parents will pledge to read to them.
This program is very
flexible and can be suited to fit the exact needs of your organization.
Our primary goal is to help your group raise funds while encouraging your
children to read!
How
does Bright Minds work?
Each in your organization
will take home a Bright Minds starter packet. The packets contain a letter
of explanation for their parents, a journal to log their reading activity,
a pledge sheet, and book list.
Children will then
have one week to approach family and friends to request reading pledges.
All pledges will be recorded on the child's pledge sheet.
The "Read-A-Thon"
begins at the start of the second week. As the child begins to read, they
will record their reading activity in their journal. For younger readers,
being read to by mom or dad earns their credits. The child's goal for
the two weeks is 300 minutes. This goal averages to 30 minutes per day,
excluding weekends. Of course, the child may divide the 300 minutes in
any way over the two weeks.
At the close of the
two week long reading campaign, the child will turn in their reading journals,
pledge sheets, pledge money, and book orders to your organization's Bright
Minds Coordinator. The Coordinator then submits those forms to Gifts Made
Personal. We will then process your Fundraiser and your group will receive
25% of the total pledged funds, and each child will receive the Personalized
Children's Books they requested with their book order (totally up to 50%
of their total pledged funds).
What
is our groups responsibility?
We have designed Bright
Minds to be as easy to coordinate as possible. We will provide you with
all the materials necessary to run a successful "Read-A-Thon",
such as explanation letters, pledge sheets and reading journals. We do
ask that your organization identifies one person to be the Bright Minds
Coordinator. This person will be our primary contact during the fundraising
event.
The coordinators duties
include:
- acting as the primary
contact during the fundraiser
- distributing Bright
Minds starter packet to member of the group
- collecting journals,
pledges and book order after the event
- submitting the
groups pledges and book orders to Gifts Made Personal
- delivering book
orders to members at the close of the campaign
What
type of group can participate?
Bright Minds is so
flexible that it is perfect for just about any organization! Participants
include schools, individual classrooms, homeschool groups, Scout Troops,
preschools, daycares, church groups, clubs, charities,
sports teams, etc.
What
exactly is a Personalized Children's Book?
Personalized children's
books offer a unique experience for a young reader. These hardcover storybooks
are custom written so that the child is the main character, or "STAR",
of the story. Whether it is helping Spiderman save Gotham City or teaching
Elmo to count on Sesame Street, every child will love to read because
the story is about THEM!
How
long will our Fundraiser last?
Bright Minds reading
campaigns last for three weeks. During the first week, students seek pledges
for their "Read-A-Thon". Weeks two and three are dedicated to
the child's reading goal.
Your group will determine
the starting and ending date of your Fundraiser.
How
long does it take to process our order?
Once your children
turn in their book requests, we will process their orders and return the
books to you for distribution. We strive to return all orders fully processed
within 2-3 weeks of the end of your event, though this turnaround time
will depend on the size of your book order.
To make your job easier,
we will gladly separate the orders, free of charge, according to how they
are submitted, i.e., by group number, classroom, etc.
Why

- This program
offers a 100% return (in cash and books)

and easily
